Teahupoo is above all a pilgrimage for surfers of course, but also for non-surfers who saw the incredible image of surfer riding mountains of water.
The location is primarily magical, lost deep in Tahiti, at the end of the road, surrounded by volcanoes, overgrown with jungle, often covered by clouds … The place seems mystical, as inhabited by the Tahitian gods.

Those who are surfing are trully heroes like Laird Hamilton, Malik Joyeux, Manoa Drollet, Raimana Van Bastoleare, Shane Dorian, … Only a handful of surfers are facing this big wave.
Why so much focuss about this wave??
A horseshoe, a veritable wall collapses on the reef at water’s edge, one of the biggest lip in the world, one of the most dangerous, one of the most crazy wave.
The configuration of the place gives birth to this particular respected wave, nothing slows down the wave that crossed the Pacific Ocean. it’s particularly profound in that place. The swell is stopped from very deep water to super shallow reef, all the sea just fall at this place.
Before jet skis and tow surfing, almost nobody was riding this wave over 3 meters it was too fast, too hollow, too dangerous.
Laird Hamilton show the way in 2000, he tooks the biggest and scariest wave ever seen here, towned by a jet ski.. Since then, every year between June and September, the monster wakes up 2 or 3 times.
Robert Teriitheau he has led the way in windsurfing last year, but still nobody in kitesurfing in waves over three meters.
