The story behind the pics, Kitesurf at Milford Sound.

The story behind the pics, Kitesurf at Milford Sound.

The shooting of the 6th episode of Make my day in New Zealand just end up, 6 weeks in a camper, 8000 KM, from North to South and back to The North.

I will take few weeks now to edit the episode, i have so much different things, from the snow to the water.

One ride that i will never forget, it’s not usual it’s on flat water. It was in Milford Sound.

It’s a special place in New Zealand, you have to drive few hours, in such a stunning road surrounded by mountain, and you end up in a middle of nowhere, called fjordland, with water fall everywhere… I did the road at the end of the day it was rainy, i think i will remember for ever that road, the color, the noise, everything was pretty intense. At the end of the road you have Milford sound: thanks Wikipedia Milford Sound runs 15 kilometres inland from the Tasman Sea at Dale Point – the mouth of the fiord – and is surrounded by sheer rock faces that rise 1,200 metres (3,900 ft) or more on either side. Among the peaks are The Elephant at 1,517 metres (4,977 ft), said to resemble an elephant’s head, and The Lion, 1,302 metres (4,272 ft), in the shape of a crouching lion.
Milford Sound sports two permanent waterfalls all year round, Lady Bowen Falls and Stirling Falls. After heavy rain however, many hundreds of temporary waterfalls can be seen running down the steep sided rock faces that line the fiord. They are fed by rain water drenched moss and will last a few days at most once the rain stops.

When i saw that place i couldn’t resist to think of riding there.
Kitesurfing in Milford Sound was my target, so i stayed a week to wait for the wind, and check with the harbor and small airport, if it was possible…
The last day the wind picked up… riding under those big waterfall, in such an amazing setting, with mountain full of snow, and rain forest… it was like riding in “heaven”
